Bad Moon: Webcomic Info

I. The backgroundstory of Bad Moon Soho 69.

1. Uncle Greedy, an ex-junkie of scottish origins, experimented a lot with drugs and occultism in his youth. He travelled many places, amon them Psychedelic Interzone, a weird, secret subterrean place in Wales, where he met lovecraftian monsters like ghouls, night-gaunts, snake-people, rat-creatures and cultists. He left the place in 1969 and moved into an abandonded, run-down house in Soho, London and decided to do nothing more to spend his time except eating, drinking and hearing music.

2. The house had been used by sinister cultist in earlier centuries and has a hidden dimensional gate in the cellar, that can be used for time travels if correctly activated. The cultists are gone, but the house is rumored to be spooky and is really broken down.

3. Uncle Greedy got lonely and decided to turn his flat into a hippie-crashpad, but the few hippies that came were scared away by the eerie atmosphere of the house. So Uncle Greedy founded the Bad Moon Club in 1969, open to all nice freaks, outcasts and weirdos.

4. First one to join was Richie, who is a (lovecraftian) rat-creature, a hybrid between rat and human produced by strange magic. These creatures exist all over the world, but really many of them exist in the Psychedelic Interzone and in the canalisation of London. Richie is fond of cigars and heavy drinks, so he feels quite well close to Uncle Greedy.

5. Ariane Eldar claims to be the last british elve, born in a subterrean kingdom beyond the Fairy Glen in Wales. If true or not, she is a witch of Yog-Sothotian magic (Lovecraft) and knows the cthuloid god Nyarlathothep, also known as Bloody tongue, Black King of the Witches, Crawling Chaos, etc.

He uses to send Ariane on missions from time to time, so that she is well used to time-travel and dimensional gates. She joined the black moon club to have access to the dimensional gate in the cellar. After a while she found that Uncle Greedy (whom she knew from the Psychedelic Interzone already) is a real nice guy, although she would never even think of being his lover. (To bad for poor old Greedy, but he is still happy that she is around sometimes at least.)

6. Dr. Weisenstein is a genious scientist and inventor from the early 21. century. He invented microchips that were not only cheap and fast, but also very longlasting, so the whole industry turned against him and he ended up with some broken bones and his work smashed beyond repair. He offered the remains of his inventions as microprocessor from deceased pope paul's pacemaker on ebay. He gained some billions in short time, but now the catholic church wanted all of the money and his life as well, and on his flight he accidently found a dimensional gate to London 1969 and arrived in the Bad Moon Club. He decided to stay an become a hippie.

7. People kept asking for the red string and suddenly there he was. Although nobody can really identify his species, he is a helpful character who keeps things going, as a good red string should.

II. The fanzine:

The Bad Moon Fanzine was a german roleplaying-fanzine dedicated to the Call of Cthulhu-Roleplaying Game and the Spaceage. (1967-1974) There were four numbers, all available as pdf. All characters already appeared in there.

III: The webcomic, old style.

The first part of the comic is in color, single row and computer-lettered. The story is still more informational. The members of Bad Moon find out that the future roleplayers are to uneducated to be heirs of the cultists of the modern and early postmodern era. So they decide to go on a trip to gather all kind of information.

IV: Webcomic, new style.

The second part of the comic is monochrome, has two rows and is hand-lettered. It is no longer "educational" but turns into a humorous adventure-comic. It starts with a time-travel into the 1870ies, as Nyarlathotep orders Ariane to get some object from that era. Her friends go with her.
